Corus announces further streamlining of leadership structure

Corus Entertainment has announced further streamlining of its leadership structure, announcing that “as part of its ongoing efforts to right-size its business for sustainability,” it’s eliminating the role of EVP and Chief Revenue Officer.

Greg McLelland

As a result, Greg McLelland will step down from the role, effective Aug. 31. McLelland has been with the company for the last two decades, joining the company through the merger of Atlantis Alliance with Canwest.

Barb McKergow will take on the expanded role of SVP, Advertising for Corus, starting Sept. 1. She’ll report to Co-CEO Troy Reeb and join Corus’ Senior Leadership Team.

Barb McKergow

McKergow has been a national sales executive with Corus since 2019. Prior to Corus, she spent 14 years with Shaw Media in sales and marketing. In her expanded role, she’ll oversee all Advertising Sales, Revenue Management, Research, Advanced Advertising and Data teams.

“Under Greg’s leadership, Corus has built industry-leading advertising solutions and developed an  incredible unique selling proposition that drives results for clients. On industry boards, Greg has helped  drive evolution in the way our industry measures and uses data. I want to thank Greg for his indelible  contributions to Corus, championing our industry-leading brands and people,” said Reeb, in a Corus announcement.

“Succession planning is an integral part of our strategy and Barb is a longstanding and well-known leader who brings a wealth of experience and a passion for our products and our clients,” Reeb added. “This leadership change represents Corus’s commitment to investing in operations and areas that help our partners grow their  business through our premium content and engaged audiences.”

Corus is continuing to focus on aggressive cost-cutting, and is set to complete a 25% workforce reduction by the end of August.

The company’s shares were trading at .10 cents on the TSX on Wednesday afternoon.
