CHOM set to launch ‘Mornings Rock with Jay, Sharon & Chantal’

Montreal’s CHOM 97.7, is set to introduce a new morning show, starting Monday, Feb. 28, featuring Jay Michaels, Sharon Hyland, and Chantal Desjardins.

Mornings Rock with Jay, Sharon & Chantal will air weekdays from 5:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. ET.

Michaels arrives at CHOM from within Bell Media after a five-year run co-hosting afternoon drive on Newstalk 1010 (CFRB-AM) Toronto. He’s previously done mornings on 99.9 Virgin Radio (CKFM-FM) Toronto, 98.1 CHFI Toronto, and Q104 (CFRQ-FM) Halifax, among other stations.

He’ll join station veteran Sharon Hyland, who over the last 25 years has been heard in almost every daypart. Comedian and host Chantal Desjardins, who previously did a co-hosting stint on the CHOM morning show in 2010, also returns to the station.

“We’re very excited about the engaging team we have in place for CHOM’s all-new morning show,” said Mathew Wood, Program Director, in a Bell Media announcement. “Every weekday, they’ll wake up and decide how they’re going to have fun with Montréal listeners. Whether it’s their passion for music, deep connections to the community, or stories from comedy stages around the world, the perspectives from Jay, Sharon, and Chantal will make mornings rock!”

The trio joined Pete Marier on the station Friday morning. Marier, who’ll take over Hyland’s weekend morning time slot, has been hosting the show since Terry DiMonte’s departure last May. Producer Esteban Vargas will also continue working behind-the-scenes.
