CBC exec Heather Conway exiting public broadcaster

Heather Conway, Executive Vice-President of CBC, has announced her departure from the public broadcaster to pursue other opportunities. She will remain in the role until Dec. 7.

Conway joined CBC/Radio-Canada in Dec. 2013 and has been responsible for CBC/Radio-Canada’s English-language services, including CBC Television, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, CBC News Network, CBC.ca, as well as documentary and digital operations.

“Heather has been instrumental in spearheading CBC’s digital transformation on all of our platforms and across all genres, helping us meet our goal of doubling our digital reach, two years ahead of schedule,” said Catherine Tait, President and CEO, CBC/Radio-Canada, in . press release. “She has been passionate about reflecting Canadian diversity in our content, ensuring that it is more distinctly and identifiably Canadian.

Prior to joining CBC, Conway was Chief Business Officer at the Art Gallery of Ontario, where she was in charge of human resources, digital services, marketing, security and membership.

Previously, Conway spent six years as EVP at Alliance Atlantis Communications, overseeing strategic marketing, publicity and on-air creative for 13 Canadian cable specialty channels. Conway has also served as CEO of Edelman Public Relations Canada and held senior management and consulting positions with TD Bank Financial Group, Hill & Knowlton and The Neville Group.
