Canadian Music Week (CMW) has announced it’s pushing its annual May music festival, and radio and industry conferences to September.
“Due to the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, we will be postponing the 38th edition of Canadian Music Week 2020,” CMW announced in a press release Monday morning.
“The festival will now take place from September 8 – 13, with the conference remaining at the Sheraton Hotel from September 9 – 11. All badges and wristbands will be honoured on the new dates, and we look forward to returning in the fall of 2020.”
In addition to industry events, Canadian Music Week encompasses the country’s largest new music festival, with hundreds of bands showcasing at more than 40 live music venues in downtown Toronto.
It’s the latest in a series of industry events, including SXSW, Radiodays Europe, and NAB Show in Las Vegas, to be postponed or cancelled.
The Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) also announced Monday that due to increasing COVID-19-related restrictions, it will no longer hold its national conference scheduled for May 29-31 in Montreal.
