Broadcast Tech & Engineering News – IMAX R&D team among Academy Scientific and Technical honourees

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will recognize 16 scientific and technical achievements at its annual Scientific and Technical Awards ceremony on Feb. 23 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Among the Canadians being recognized are Steve Read, SVP Research & Development at IMAX Corporation, and Barry Silverstein, former Senior Director of R&D and Hardware, for their contributions to the design and development of the IMAX Prismless Laser Projector. Utilizing a novel optical mirror system, the IMAX Prismless Laser Projector removes prisms from the laser light path to create the high brightness and contrast required for IMAX theatrical presentation.
