Broadcast Dialogue – The Podcast: Radio’s diversity problem with special guest Denise Donlon

Broadcasting executive Denise Donlon, CHUM FM host Jamar McNeil, 99.9 Virgin Radio's Jax Irwin and Kiss 104.9 Vancouver's Kevin Lim were among the panelists on a Canadian Music Week panel discussing elevating young & diverse talent.

One of this year’s Canadian Music Week panels brought together a cross-section of emerging broadcast talent to explore how to elevate young and diverse voices.

CHUM-FM morning host Jamar McNeil, Kiss 104.9 Vancouver’s Kevin Lim and Sonia Sidhu, Missy Knott from 95.7 ELMNT FM, Virgin Radio Toronto’s Jax Irwin, and Flow 95.3 host Peter Kash came to share their stories of what it’s like to be “the other” in what’s a largely white, male-dominated industry.

On this episode of Broadcast Dialogue – The Podcast, we bring you highlights from that panel, moderated by Maureen Holloway, followed by special guest and broadcasting executive Denise Donlon, who is known for her leadership in hiring diverse talent, particularly at MuchMusic. Donlon says diverse hiring is not only morally right, it makes good business sense.
