As Canadian radio celebrates World Radio Day, Bell Media is continuing layoffs announced last week, cancelling Move 100 (CJMJ-FM) Ottawa’s Move Mornings with Stuntman Stu, Angie & Janel.

Stuntman Stu (aka Stu Schwartz) announced on his social media channels on Tuesday morning that the morning show had been informed that “their services were no longer required at Move 100.”

“It’s been a ride like no other and I’m incredibly proud to have worked alongside so many talented broadcasters,” wrote Schwartz. “For now, I’m going to enjoy sleeping in and if you’re looking for me, I’ll probably be hanging around beautiful Barrhaven looking for a job.”

Schwartz had been with the company for two decades, starting as a fill-in weather host on CJOH-TV, in addition to stints on the morning shows at Team 1200 (CFGO-AM), 93.9 BOB FM (CKKL-FM), and Move 100 predecessor MAJIC 100.

Angie Poirier had been with the station since 2011 and with Bell since 2002 as a CTV Ottawa contributor. Janel Steeper joined Move 100 in 2018 as a co-host and producer, arriving from the morning show at Bell’s Capital FM (CIBX-FM) Fredericton, NB.

Other radio casualties include The Toby & Warren Show with Toby Johnston and Warren Barris on Edmonton’s 100.3 The Bear (CFBR-FM). Johnston had been in afternoons there since 2017 and Barris with the station since 2012 when he started as street teamer.

Longtime CHUM Toronto morning show producer Caitlin Green and on-air personality Richie Favalaro, have also parted ways with Bell Media.

Announced last Thursday, the workforce reduction has thus far hit the company’s television properties the hardest, including CTV, CTV News Channel, and BNN Bloomberg.
