Seth Rogen is among the executive producers behind new competition series, The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down, for CBC.
Set to premiere in winter 2024, the series – based on the British format – will see 10 Canadian potters face off to be crowned “Canada’s top potter.” The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down is hosted by Canadian actress and comedian Jennifer Robertson, best-known for her role as Jocelyn Schitt in Schitt’s Creek, and currently among the cast of Netflix drama Ginny & Georgia.
A potter in his own right, Rogen also serves as a guest judge, alongside Vancouver-based artist and Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design ceramics instructor Brendan Tang, who is also the co-host of ceramics podcast The Kiln Sitters, and Toronto ceramicist Natalie Waddell.
The series was shot this summer at a studio on Granville Island in Vancouver, the hometown of both Rogen and Robertson.

Rogen became interested in ceramics, just prior to the pandemic, so he could start making his own ashtrays. He launched cannabis lifestyle company Houseplant, alongside his producing partner Evan Goldberg, American-Canadian businessman Michael Mohr, and producers James Weaver and Alex McAtee in 2019, which among other products, sells Rogen’s own pottery designs.
Jamie Brown and Stephanie Fast are Executive Producers on The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down for Frantic Films, which did the deal with UK-prodco Love Productions. Love is also behind The Great British Baking Show format.
