Martine Turcotte set to retire from Bell in New Year

Martine Turcotte, Vice Chair, Québec, will retire from BCE Inc. in January after 31 years with the company.

Martine Turcotte, Vice Chair, Québec, will retire from BCE Inc. in January after 31 years with the company.

Turcotte, who joined Bell as legal counsel in 1988, has worked closely with five Bell chief executives and been named to the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada Hall of Fame, after receiving the honour multiple times.

Turcotte has been Vice Chair, Québec of BCE Inc. and Bell Canada since 2011. She became the first woman in company history and the youngest person ever to be promoted to Bell’s executive team in 1999 when she was named Chief Legal Officer of BCE (1999 to 2008) and Bell Canada (2003-08). She was also Executive Vice-President and Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer of BCE and Bell Canada from 2008-11.

In her current role, Turcotte has represented Bell in the business community and with all levels of government, including the company’s support for community and cultural institutions. In addition to her leadership of Bell Let’s Talk in Québec, Turcotte helped build Bell’s investment in the Montreal Canadiens, Just for Laughs, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, le Festival d’été de Québec, Le Diamant, les Francos de Montréal and other festivals across Québec.

Turcotte also serves as Chair of Théâtre Espace Go Inc., is a member of the Board of Governors of McGill University and Montréal en Lumière, a member of the Board of SCALE.AI and trustee of the Board of Governors of the Jewish General Hospital.

Bell says it will announce the appointment of a new Vice Chair, Québec in the near future.
