Frédéric Perron named Cogeco president & CEO

Frédéric Perron, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cogeco Inc. and of Cogeco Communications Inc.

Frédéric Perron has been appointed President and CEO of Cogeco and Cogeco Communications, effective immediately, succeeding the retiring Philippe Jetté.

Perron moves up from the position of president of Cogeco Connexion, Cogeco’s Canadian broadband business. The company says the appointment follows a board-led succession planning process with Jetté continuing to serve as a strategic advisor through the end of August to ensure a smooth transition.

Perron has been with Cogeco since 2020, bringing a background that includes leading T-Mobile’s consumer business in Poland, executive roles at Vodafone in the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic, and serving as SVP, Customer Management and Loyalty at Rogers Communications.

Philippe Jetté

Jetté, who steps down as a director of both companies effective today, had been in the president and CEO role since 2018. He had previously served as president of Cogeco’s B2B products and services division, Cogeco Peer 1.

“Serving as Cogeco’s President and CEO has been a privilege,” said Jetté, in a company announcement. “Over the past six years, we have significantly grown and diversified our business, improved operational efficiency, expanded and evolved our networks, and laid the foundation for the launch of mobile services. Given Frédéric’s international telecommunications background and past performance leading our Canadian broadband business, he is the right leader to take Cogeco to new heights.”

Chairman of the Board Louis Audet said Perron had long been identified as a leader within the company’s ranks.

“Frédéric’s industry knowledge, strategic agility, transformation mindset and passion for innovation, along with the value creation he’s exhibited during his tenure with Cogeco and in previous roles, give the Board tremendous confidence in his ability to serve as CEO,” said Audet. “He is a respected leader who is able to align and rally teams to raise the bar on performance and will continue to position Cogeco as a growing force in the North American telecommunications and media sectors.”
