The Western Association of Broadcast Engineers is pleased to announce that we have now opened delegate registration to the annual 72nd Annual Convention today! Come join us in person on October 4th and 5th, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta. Click here to register: https://wabe.ca/convention/delegates/
We had originally announced that we would be returning to the Westin Calgary Airport Hotel, but unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to change the venue. Please join us at The Calgary Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre.
We will be having a two-day event this year. We will present our papers and access the exhibit hall on both days. On Tues, Oct 4th, we will have our Attitude Adjustment reception at 5pm. And on Wed, Oct 5th, we will have our Awards Luncheon at noon. You can view our convention schedule on our website here: https://wabe.ca/convention/schedule/
The early bird delegate registration fee of $275 is available until September 2nd. We have arranged a limited block of WABE delegate rooms at the rate of $134 per night. This hotel is very busy, and rooms will book up fast, so reserve your guest room as soon as you can before it fills up. We have also arranged for a small group discount on WestJet flights. To see more information about the hotel and flights, go to our website here: https://wabe.ca/convention/hotel-travel-discounts/
The committee met in person on June 7th and we already have an impressive list of presenters and networking opportunities for delegates, sponsors, and exhibitors alike. To date, we have 20+ sponsors and exhibitors that have committed to attending and are anticipating more in the next few months.
We have confirmed a timely keynote speaker on diversity in the media from a newly authored government report. Kirk Nesbit will also bring us up to date on the CAB and he will also speak on next generation TV and radio advancements. We will update the schedule on our website as papers get confirmed.
We continue to accept nominations for all our awards. To date, we have received some nominations for Excellence in Engineering, RW Lamb and we are set to honor an impressive list of retirees. Email those nominations to info@wabe.ca by Aug 26/22. You can see the list of the awards, their criteria, and a list of the recipients from prior years on our website here: https://wabe.ca/awards
