Number 9 Audio Group in Toronto is recovering from a fire in December. Owned by George Rondina, the recording studio has been operating since 1981, working with numerous Canadian artists including David Clayton-Thomas, Amanda Marshall, Natalie MacMaster, Lawrence Gowan, Sarah Polley (“The Sweet Hereafter” soundtrack), and Rufus Wainwright, among others, in addition to acting as a vital source of rental gear to producers and other studios. A GoFundMe has been set up to help Rondina rebuild.
Dejero has made rally car racing broadcast history, in partnership with Professional AV, transmitting live in-vehicle camera feeds from multiple rally cars racing through rural locations to a national TV broadcaster. Jännerrallye, also known as the Internationale Jänner Rallye, took place Jan. 5-7. Winding through the forests and mountains of Freistadt in Northern Austria, organizers found the terrain challenging to find a stable enough signal to be able to broadcast high quality video. Three rally cars were equipped with Dejero EnGo 265 mobile video transmitters for the three-day event; two EnGos were placed at various start and finish lines, and an additional EnGo was connected to a drone. The live camera feeds were transmitted by the Dejero devices over bonded cellular, back to a production hub equipped by Professional AV in Messehalle Freistadt. Two Dejero WayPoint receivers reconstructed the feeds, decoded the HEVC and then outputted them for broadcast to television and streaming channels.
