Bell Media President Randy Lennox to depart in 2021

BCE Inc. has announced that Randy Lennox is departing as President of Bell Media in the New Year with Bell Group President and Vice Chair Wade Oosterman to assume operational leadership of the division.

Lennox joined Bell Media in 2015 as President of Content and Broadcasting and was promoted to Bell Media President in 2017, reporting to Oosterman. A member of the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame, Lennox was previously President and CEO of Universal Music Canada, where he helped launch the careers of Canadian artists like the Tragically Hip, Justin BieberDrake and Shawn Mendes.

Lennox followed the Monday morning announcement with an email to friends and partners, obtained by Broadcast Dialogue, that said he “couldn’t be more honoured” to work alongside the Bell Media team.

“I am still fully engaged, have many aspirations going forward, and I hope our paths cross again as things continue to evolve,” said Lennox, adding that he wished Oosterman “only the very best” in his new role.

In a release, Mirko Bibic, President and CEO of BCE, lauded Lennox for his transformative efforts across the company’s platforms, saying that in a “rapidly evolving media industry, Randy solidified Bell Media’s position as Canada’s #1 multimedia brand.”

He reignited Crave and our other digital platforms, accelerated Canadian content creation with strategic investments, including the Noovo network in Québec and Pinewood Studios Toronto, and built exclusive partnerships with top international content brands like HBO Max, Starz and iHeartRadio.”

Since Oosterman joined the company in 2006, he has served as Bell’s Chief Brand Officer. With his new appointment, Bell has announced that Senior Vice President, Brand Devorah Lithwick has been appointed SVP & Chief Brand Officer, effective Jan. 2021. Lithwick has also been with the company since 2006.
