The 17th Annual ACTRA Awards were handed out Saturday night at The Carlu in Toronto, recognizing outstanding performances by ACTRA Toronto members.

Among the night’s winners were the cast of CBC sitcom Schitt’s Creek (Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy and Annie Murphy), who were awarded the Members’ Choice Series Ensemble Award. Amybeth McNulty won Outstanding Performance – Female for her role as Anne in Anne with an E, while Stephen McHattie won Outstanding Male Performance for his portrayal of Gus Power in independent feature film Crown and Anchor.

Sketch troupe Women Fully Clothed presented ACTRA Toronto’s 2019 Award of Excellence to Jayne Eastwood. Eastwood, arguably one of the most recognizable Canadian character actresses, has spent five decades in film, theatre and television with roles ranging from SCTV and King of Kensington to turns in feature films like my Big Fat Greek Wedding, Chicago and Hairspray.

ACTRA Toronto Stunt awards were presented to longtime animal wranglers and stunt performers Rick Parker and Sue Parker. The Parkers have worked on hundreds of TV series and film projects including Alias Grace, Due South, Coroner, The Strain and the X-Men series of films, among many others.

For the first time this year, the voice award was split into Female Voice and Male Voice categories. ACTRA Toronto President Theresa Tova made note of the change in her remarks, while highlighting ACTRA Ontario Census results which show a continued earnings gap for female performers.
