Christeen Jesse

Christeen Jesse is set to anchor CTV Regina’s all-new CTV News At Five, beginning, Aug. 28. The video journalist has been with CTV since 2013, first as reporter in Prince Albert and then as late night anchor at CTV Regina.

Sean Leslie

Sean Leslie will host CTV Saskatoon’s locally-focused edition of CTV News At Five. Leslie signs on from Global News Winnipeg, where he’d been since 2015.

Maralee Caruso

Maralee Caruso will anchor CTV Winnipeg’s edition of CTV News At Five, while continuing to co-anchor CTV News At Six with Gord Leclerc. The new show will also feature weather and traffic reports from CTV Winnipeg weather specialist Colleen Bready, Medicalwatch segments with Michelle Gerwing, and digital news from Megan Benedictson.

Paul Karwatsky

Paul Karwatsky has been named anchor of CTV Montreal’s local edition of CTV News At Five. Karwatsky, will continue to appear on CTV News At Six, as well as anchor the 11:30 p.m. newscast.

Matt Skube

Matt Skube will anchor CTV Ottawa’s edition of CTV News At Five. Skube has been a weekend anchor/reporter with the station since 2013.

Marc Venema and Rosie Del Campo

CTV Kitchener’s locally-focused edition of CTV News At Five features co-anchors Rosie Del Campo and Marc Venema, alongside weather presenter Lyndsay Morrison. It will also feature segments In Your Backyard, showcasing unique community experiences; Quick Fix at Five, with tips on fitness, fashion and food; Waze Traffic Reports; and CTV Investigates, featuring multi-part series and investigative reports.

Tony Ryma and Sean Grech

Tony Ryma and Sean Grech co-anchor the CTV Northern Ontario broadcast of CTV News At Five, alongside weather specialist Jessica Gosselin. Ryma is the host of CTV News Northern Ontario At Six, while Grech anchors the late night regional newscast. Gosselin has been with CTV Northern Ontario as a VJ, since 2012.

Jeyan Jeganathan

Jeyan Jeganathan has left CHCH-TV after nearly two years as a VJ in the station’s Niagara bureau. Jeganathan is headed to TVO where he’ll be a documentary reporter for The Agenda.

Rick Ringer and Julia Manina

The Country 93 (CKYC-FM) Owen Sound morning show re-launched Aug. 21, with Rick Ringer and Julia Manina. Ringer is best known for his 20-year run at CHUM-FM Toronto, and was most recently GM at Larche Communications in Owen Sound. Manina joins Country 93 from 92.3 The Dock (CJOS-FM) Owen Sound. The pair will be working closely with brand manager Shawn Turner, who joined Bayshore Broadcasting in July. Turner was previously on-air with 93.1 Fresh Radio (CHAY-FM) Barrie.

Glenn Knight

Glenn Knight has been named PD at JAZZ.FM91 (CJRT-FM) Toronto. Knight has been the station’s production director since 2011, his second stint with the station after holding down the same position in the early 2000’s. Knight has also worked as a producer with Toronto stations Hot 103.5 (CIDC-FM), Energy FM (CING-FM) and 92.5 Jack FM (CKIS-FM).

Jay Stone

Jay Stone is the new program director at up! 99.3 (CIUP-FM) Edmonton. Stone’s last day at 980 CJME-AM Regina, where he’s been PD since 2012, is Sept. 8.

The Rebel has fired correspondent Faith Goldy. Rebel Commander Ezra Levant took to YouTube, saying Goldy’s appearance on a podcast for American neo-Nazi and white supremacist news site The Daily Stormer “was just too far.” Meantime, Vice Media co-founder Gavin McInnes is the latest contributor parting ways with The Rebel. Levant says McInnes was lured away by a major competitor.

Laura Brown

Laura Brown is moving from the Fredericton bureau of CTV Atlantic to report out of Halifax. Brown has been with CTV since Jan. 2016, following three and half years as a VJ with Global New Brunswick.

Kevin Bottaro

Kevin Bottaro is leaving the newsroom at MBS Radio Halifax to study IT/web development at Nova Scotia Community College. The Loyalist College alum had been in the position since 2013. Weekend newsreader Geoff Goodfellow has been named news director and will also anchor afternoon news across the MBS network.

Darryl Spring

Darryl Spring is returning to radio as program director, music director and drive host at Rebel 101.7 (CIDG-FM) Ottawa. While Spring has done hosting and programming stints at Q92 (CJQQ-FM) Timmins, 102.1 The Edge (CFNY-FM) Toronto, Y108 (CJXY-FM) Hamilton, and K-Rock 105.7 (CIKR-FM) Kingston, he’s been out of radio since 2015 and working as a commercial account manager.

Brandon Gonez

Brandon Gonez joins CTV Your Morning as weather reporter for the next year, while Kelsey McEwen takes maternity leave. Gonez hails from CTV’s Barrie affiliate, where he’s been an anchor and reporter for the past year.

Jason Lee

Jason Lee has been appointed vice-president, BC Industrial Relations, for the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA). As the chief negotiator for the CMPA BC Producers Branch, Lee will negotiate labour agreements with the province’s unions and guilds on behalf of members. He’ll also oversee health and safety, community affairs and day-to-day labour issues. Lee has been a member of the Alberta film and television community for more than 20 years, most recently as VP of Business and Legal Affairs at Seven24 Films.

Gord St. Denis

Gord St. Denis is the new afternoon host at Majic 100 (CJMJ-FM) Ottawa. As Broadcast Dialogue previously reported, St. Denis recently departed Jump! 106.9 (CKQB-FM) Ottawa. Nancy Slater, who had been hosting afternoons, moves to the 7 to 11 p.m. slot.

Kerry Phelan

Kerry Phelan has been promoted to president of Lionsgate’s Global Franchise Management. The newly-formed group includes brand extensions like the recently-announced Lionsgate Movie World outdoor theme park in Korea, built around The Hunger Games and Twilight franchises.
